Groups Applaud Discrimination Ban: Agency Restored Protection for Gays
- Date: April 10, 2004
- QUOTE: Gay rights groups and labor leaders yesterday hailed as long overdue a federal agency chief's decision to reinstate a ban on discrimination against federal employees on the basis of sexual orientation.
- ABSTRACT: Scott J. Bloch, head of the federal Office of Special Counsel, announced that his agency would continue to enforce a ban on discrimination against employees based on sexual orientation. The ban had been in place for thirty years, but the agency had removed some relevant language from its website earlier in the year.
