It's tough to get a lawsuit heard
- Date: July 29, 2004
- QUOTE: Whistle-blowing can be a thankless undertaking. Workers are afforded varying degrees of legal protection, and few cases are settled or ever find their way into a courtroom.
- ABSTRACT: Whistle-blower lawsuits citing questionable activity from companies are difficult to get into a courtroom, and lawyers are reluctant to take such cases, fearing that if the cases aren't legitimate, they could damage the lawyers' reputations. Although many of these cases are filed, only a fraction are found in the whistle-blower's favor, which could discourage legitimate cases from ever surfacing. --- Sari Kent
