- ABSTRACT: Bernard J. Ebbers, former chief executive of WorldCom Inc. was found guilty of conspiracy, securities fraud and false filings and could face up to 85 years in prison. WorldCom collapsed in 2002 following the uncovering of $11 billion in false accounting entries. Ebbers denied any knowledge of the accounting errors that led to the loss of billions of dollars for investors.
