- ABSTRACT: In a scenario reminiscent of Ayn Rand's ATLAS SHRUGGED, little oil company Unocal developed a reformulating process for gasoline production that is quicker, cheaper, and better quality than the processes used by its larger oil company brothers. Now the larger companies are crying foul and trying to force little Unocal to open up its patent on its oil process as they claim it is unfair that they should have to pay royalties on Unocal's patent, or pay higher costs to use a longer process to circumvent Unocal's process altogether....
