ABSTRACT: But analysts believe that more than half of the country's rapes are never reported to the police.

ABSTRACT: Poverty, AIDS, superstition, and the many legacies of South Africa's discarded apartheid system (e.g. family breakdown and dislocation, a governmental police force that for years targeted black nationalists rather than criminals) have brought about an epidemic of rape and sexual violence. One activist comments ""There is a civil war in this county and it's a war against women's bodies".
