An Organization On the Lookout for Patriotic Incorrectness
- Date: November 24, 2001
- QUOTE: ....a list of 117 anti-American statements heard on college campuses that was compiled by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni... accuses several dozen scholars, students and even a university president of what they call unpatriotic behavior after Sept. 11.
- ABSTRACT: The difference between peaceful, internationally-understanding supportive rhetoric and hawkish reactionary militaristic speech has become more pronounced since the terror attacks of 9/11, especially in the colleges, universities and published presses around the nation. But is it unpatriotic to take a rationalist and measured approach to the response to the events of 9/11, or is it a greater betrayal of our patriotic values to through a balanced perspective out the window and resort to knee-jerk reactionary emotional rhetoric and actions?
