Is it consumer convenience or too much information?

Date: June 18, 2001

QUOTE: You give your phone number out so people can get in touch with you. But you don't assume they can use it to get to you.

ABSTRACT: Giving out phone numbers could be more dangerous than previously thought. The Reverse Directory Assistance Plan, available through many phone and Internet services, gives the benefit of locating and identifying callers, especially on phone bills. However, some people fear that the plan gives out too much potentially dangerous information, such as home addresses.
