Hiring of Women Slumps in Sports Industry

Date: May 21, 2003
Author: Sue Reisinger
QUOTE: For the past two years, the hiring of women in sports organizations has dropped, according to a report card on the gender and racial hiring practices in sports.

ABSTRACT: The 2003 Racial and Gender Report Card, published at the end of April by the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport in Orlando, Fla., found that there has been a significant decline in the hiring of women in sports. Many believe this is linked to a string of federal attacks on Title IX, the law which ensures women’s equality in all areas of public schools. --- Sara Holliday

Something may be true but overlooked

at the moment thought of this article,it is likely to be another gender discrimination. No doubt the suvery shows that women are less working opportunities to work in sports areas than those of men, but it doesn't mean that women are discriminated. It can be an alternative answer that there is more popularity of men regard sports as their professionals than those of women. It may be truth as men are born to be more keen on sports than women in our genetic.I am not saying women will do worse on this areas but the proportion of women regard sports as their professional is much smaller. We may neglect this issue on this article
