Self Description

April 2005: "The former New School for Social Research became New School University by action of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York in 1997.... Founded in 1919 as the New School for Social Research by a group of distinguished independent-minded scholars including historian Charles Beard, economists Thorstein Veblen and James Harvey Robinson, and philosopher John Dewey....Student body: 7,100 degree students and over 26,000 adult and continuing education students. 1,600 students are from other nations. Diversity: 29.8% of the non-international student population are students of color. "

August 2007: 'Also today, Mr. Hsu cut ties on with The New School, where he was a board member and where a scholarship is offered in his name. In a news release, the school said that he had “no involvement” with fund-raising activities.'
